St Mary’s Gate Inn offers 10 charming bedrooms and the perfect base to explore the town of Arundel or the wild South Downs, wander the town’s independent shops, visit the impressive cathedral, or take a short drive to the coast for some sea air. Whether you’re after a bit of culture, countryside, or a cosy pub lunch after a day out, St Mary’s Gate has you covered.

We have 10 lovely rooms for you to choose from. Five of these are recently refurbished and located in a separate building at the back of the pub, overlooking the pub courtyard. The other five are brand new and found upstairs, offering charming views across to the Cathedral, the Castle Gardens, or out over the rooftops towards the South Downs.
Each room is designed with comfort in mind. Featuring 1500 deep sprung mattresses, soft goose and duck feather & down quilts and pillows and crisp linen sheets, all fresh and ready to help you drift off into a restful night’s sleep.
All rooms include an en-suite bathroom, HD TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, and toiletries. Access to the rooms is via the car park or free roadside parking so you can conveniently park. Please note there are only 7 spaces available in our car park, but if these are full, there’s plenty of on-street parking less than a minutes' walk away.
All rooms are non-smoking. We happily welcome children and have a family room available. If you're travelling with two children, just give us a call and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. We have dog-friendly accommodation too and well-behaved small to medium-sized dogs are welcome in select rooms for an additional charge, please contact us to book.
A delicious continental breakfast is served on weekdays between 8:00–9:30am, and at weekends we also offer a hot breakfast until 10:00am.

The Castle Room
Situated upstairs above the pub, our grandest and largest room. With a roll top bath and separate walk-in shower, views into the Cathedral and double aspect windows where you can lie in a Superking bed and see the Arundel Castle! Some might call it fit for a King and Queen.

The Tulip Room
Situated upstairs above the pub, a flowery and colourful room with a Superking and an extra single bed for a family or friends sharing. With views across the Castle Grounds, a great space to see the famous tulip gardens.

The Cathedral Room
Situated upstairs above the pub, fit for a bishop, a poet, or just someone who really loves a good view, the Cathedral Room is one of our brand new upstairs gems. Gaze dreamily out the window (we can’t promise choirs of angels, but it’s close), then sink into your cloud-like bed with goose feather and down bedding so comfy you might just miss breakfast.

The Cromwell Room
Situated upstairs in the oldest part of the pub, this beautifully characterful room features a King size bed, big shower, and wonderful view across Arundel chimney pots and towards the South Coast. You may even be lucky enough to meet the ghost of Cromwell’s chief guard who was based here during the mid 1600s.

The Torquay Room
Situated upstairs above the pub and my favourite room, double aspect windows with views into the Cathedral, and views all the way down to the South Coast. Comfortable brand new King beds and goose feather and down bedding. As Mr Fawlty would say… “if you want to stay in Torquay and see the sea you'd better find a hotel closer to the sea!”

Classic Twin
Situated on ground level in an external building looking onto the pub courtyard. A beautiful en-suite room with two single beds.

Classic Family
Situated on ground level in an external building looking onto the pub courtyard. A larger room suitable for a family of 3 or two adults looking for a twin room. This room comprises of a double and a single bed.
